THE METHOD
A structured approach to attachment change
Securely Attached combines Integrated Attachment Theory, DBT skills, and CBT-informed tools. Together, they create a process that works with attachment patterns at the emotional level, the belief level, and the behavioral level.
Integrated Attachment Theory
Developed by Thais Gibson, IAT provides the core framework for mapping attachment style, core wounds, unmet emotional needs, subconscious beliefs, relational fears, protective strategies, emotional triggers, deactivation patterns, and secure attachment development.
DBT Skills
DBT skills support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, staying grounded during activation, working with conflict and repair, and building practical relational tools.
CBT-Informed Tools
CBT-informed work helps identify and shift thoughts and interpretations that reinforce attachment responses, including self-criticism, perfectionism, catastrophizing, black-and-white thinking, shame loops, and emotional reasoning.
WHAT CAN CHANGE
Every session has a focus. Every phase has a purpose.
We begin with assessment and mapping. We identify what drives the pattern. We work with core wounds and belief systems. We build regulation tools. We practice communication and behavioral change. We integrate the work into daily life.
