Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about certified attachment coaching, online sessions, the application process, individual work, couples consulting, and what this work can support.
What is attachment coaching?
Attachment coaching is a structured, goal-oriented process for understanding and changing the patterns that shape how you relate to yourself, to closeness, and to other people.
In this work, we look at attachment style, core wounds, belief systems, emotional triggers, protective strategies, needs, boundaries, communication, and real-life behavioral integration.
Who is this work for?
This work is for high-functioning adults and couples who recognize recurring patterns in relationships, communication, emotional regulation, closeness, trust, or self-worth.
It is especially suitable for people who recognize avoidant, fearful avoidant, or mixed attachment patterns and want a structured process rather than vague advice.
Do I need to know my attachment style before starting?
You can begin with or without a clear attachment label. Assessment and mapping are part of the first phase.
We look at your actual patterns: how you respond to closeness, distance, conflict, emotional pressure, needs, boundaries, and vulnerability.
Do you work with dismissive avoidant and fearful avoidant attachment?
Yes. A core focus of Securely Attached is working with dismissive avoidant and fearful avoidant patterns, including withdrawal, shutdown, deactivation, ambivalence, emotional pressure around closeness, shame cycles, and the push-pull between wanting connection and needing distance.
Is this only for romantic relationships?
Romantic relationships often make attachment patterns more visible, but the work goes beyond partnership.
Attachment patterns also shape friendships, family dynamics, work relationships, leadership, visibility, communication, self-worth, emotional boundaries, and the relationship you have with yourself.
Do you work with men and women?
Yes. I work with men, women, and couples.
The shared foundation is readiness for honest, structured, emotionally intelligent work.
Do you offer couples coaching?
Yes. I work with men, women, and couples.
The shared foundation is readiness for honest, structured, emotionally intelligent work.
Are sessions online?
Yes. All sessions are virtual.
Sessions take place online via Zoom or another agreed video platform. I am based in Berlin and work internationally in English and German.
What methods do you use?
The work combines Integrated Attachment Theory, DBT skills, and CBT-informed tools.
Integrated Attachment Theory helps map attachment style, core wounds, belief systems, emotional needs, and protective strategies.
DBT skills support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.
CBT-informed tools help identify interpretations, thought patterns, self-criticism, shame loops, and emotional reasoning.
Are you certified?
Yes. I am certified in Integrated Attachment Theory through Thais Gibson’s training.
I also integrate DBT skills and CBT-informed tools within a coaching context.
Is this therapy?
This is certified attachment coaching. It is structured, goal-oriented, and focused on attachment patterns, belief systems, emotional regulation, communication, and behavioral change in everyday life.
Coaching is different from psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment, medical care, or crisis support. If your situation requires clinical support, I will communicate that clearly.
What happens after I apply?
After you submit your application, I review it personally.
If the work appears aligned, we begin with a structured intake process. This may include questionnaires, attachment-style mapping, pattern analysis, and a conversation about your goals.
What happens in the first sessions?
The first sessions focus on assessment and clarity.
We look at your attachment style, core wounds, belief systems, emotional triggers, coping strategies, relational patterns, communication style, and goals.
How does the 12-week process work?
The 12-week process moves through four phases:
Mapping: attachment style, patterns, triggers, core wounds, and goals
Root cause and belief systems: deeper emotional material and subconscious beliefs
Regulation and new responses: DBT skills, CBT-informed tools, communication, and behavioral practice
Integration: stabilizing the changes and building a framework you can continue using
What can change through this work?
The goal is more secure functioning.
Over time, you can build more emotional steadiness, clearer self-understanding, earlier recognition of triggers, stronger access to needs and boundaries, more grounded communication, and more secure relating with yourself and others.
